Fil was preceded in death by his father, Harley Hanson, and his brother-in-law, Duke Hodge. He is survived by his mother, Ella Louise Hanson; his sister, Cindy Hodge; his brothers, Chuck (Sandy) Hanson, Tony Hanson, and Scott (Roxanne) Hanson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Fil proudly served his country in the United States Navy for over 20 years before retiring. During his distinguished military career, he served aboard the USS Knox, USS Worden, USS Reeves, USS New Jersey, USS Fox, and USS Blue Ridge as an Electronic Warfare Specialist.
Following his retirement, Fil enjoyed spending his time watching NASCAR—especially any kind of racing—and football, with a special enthusiasm for the OSU Buckeyes.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Grove City, where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery.
