Owen C. Ellis

November 13, 1943-May 18, 2026

Owen C. Ellis, age 82, passed away on May 18, 2026. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend whose greatest joy in life was his family.

Owen and his beloved wife, Cheryl (Collins) Ellis, shared 60 wonderful years together and raised their four sons in Grove City, Ohio. A true family man, Owen always put his family first and set an example of what a true husband and father should be.

An avid baseball fan, Owen spent many years coaching in the Grove City Little League, continuing to mentor and support young players even after his own sons had aged out of the program. He never met a stranger and was happy spending time talking to neighbors or fellow campers at the campground during warm weather.

Owen retired from the City of Columbus after many years of dedicated service.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Cheryl (Collins) Ellis and his grandson, Owen Christopher.

He is survived by his four sons, Christpher (Tara), Michael (Terry), Verlon (Karen), and Pete (Valarie), grandchildren, Ryan, Kristina, Cody, Tyler, Jennifer, Jordan, Justin, Julia, Matt, Cameron, Chase, Nate, Kaylee, 13 great-grandchildren, his brother Rob of St. Louis, Missouri, and sisters-in-law, Barbara Collins and Helen (Joyce) Huntington, along with many nieces and nephews.

Per Owen’s request no funeral service will be held. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 1-4 pm at the American Legion Post 164 3363 McDowell Rd Grove City, OH 43123.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Luminary Hospice of Columbus, OH in Owen’s name.
