Rocco was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and was a 1975 graduate of Columbus West High School. He was also a 39-year member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 189.
Rocco is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Christine; his beloved children Dominic aka Nico (Elizabeth Nau) Gualtieri, Susan (Steve) Radzimski, Megan (Dave) Costine, and Todd (Amy) Hungerman; his eight cherished grandsons Jackson, Ivan, Dmitri, Knox, Archer, Victor, Lincoln, and Oliver; and his constant canine companion, Bodhi.
He retired from Local 189 ten years ago after working his entire career for the Bruner Corporation, with the majority of his time spent at The Ohio State University. He was a 28-year resident of Lake Choctaw in London, Ohio where he raised his children. In his retirement, he moved back to Columbus to take on his passion project, the renovation and restoration of a 125-year-old home in East Franklinton, where he lived with his wife. Rocco especially enjoyed spending summers entertaining his family and friends at his Buckeye Lake home. Rocco fought and beat Stage IV kidney cancer and was a 5-year cancer survivor in remission. He was truly loved by his many friends and family and will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held at Schoedinger Grove City Funeral Home, 4242 Hoover Road, on Saturday, January 6th from 12 noon until 3 pm. A celebration of Rocco’s life will be held immediately following the visitation at Local 189 Union Hall, 1250 Kinnear Road in Columbus. Please join us to share special memories and a toast to honor Rocco.
