

Ruth was born on November 3, 1942, to the late Martha and Robert Ward. She spent her entire life in the Columbus, Ohio area and was a proud graduate of West High School.
Ruth devoted more than 25 years of her life serving others as a case worker for the welfare office, a career she truly loved. After retiring, she continued working in the treasury department at World Harvest Church, where she combined her strong faith with her love for people.
She was known for her simple pleasures, sweet tea with no ice, her love for elephants, and most of all, her deep devotion to her family. Ruth adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and took immense pride in being a great grandma. She was playful, goofy, always honest, and had a special way with words that left lasting impressions on everyone she met.
Ruth’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. Through her church, she enjoyed traveling to places such as Florida, Indiana, and Mackinac Island, creating cherished memories along the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Robert Ward, her son, John Robert Cossin, and her grandson, John Robert Cossin Jr.
Ruth is survived by her loving children, Jimmie (Jeanette) Cossin Jr., Martha (Chuck) Brown, Michelle (partner Virgil) Gates, and Tina (Charlie) Hootman, her sister, Norma Arbogast, and her many beloved grandchildren, Brandy (Jake), Amber (Steve), Carl (Courtney), Keri (Cody), Brittany, Charlie, Beth (Dillon), Courtney (Kyle), Donald, Diedra (Brodie), Jessie, Jason (Lindsay), Matthew (Sadie), Faith (Jose), and one grandchild on the way whom she was eagerly anticipating.
She also leaves behind her treasured great grandchildren, Austin, Dylan, Jacob, Caleb, Autumn, Koury, Jennifer, Bryant, Carleigh, Cohen, Khloe, Benjamin, Gracelyn, Blake, Brodie, Brylee, Elijah, Jeremiah, Theodore, and Imogen, as well as her great great grandchild, Finn.
Ruth will be remembered for always being there for her grandchildren, her joyful spirit, her unwavering faith, and the laughter she brought into every room.
A visitation will be held at Schoedinger Norris Grove City, located at 4242 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123, on January 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at the same location on January 2, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with procession to the graveside to immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, located at 5600 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43213.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ruth’s family to help honor her legacy and assist with funeral expenses.
