

Sara Jean Soforenko (Unger), 61, passed away Monday, August 25, 2025. She was born October 8, 1963 in Columbus, Ohio. She was a 1981 graduate of Teays Valley High School and studied early childhood development at Columbus State. She was a devoted mother and spent many years providing in-home childcare, touching countless young lives with her warmth and dedication. She was deeply loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her—cherished for her quick wit, generous heart, and a sassy spirit that made her truly unforgettable. Sara had a passion for reading, solving puzzles, enjoying the beach, doting on her cats, and was a loyal fan of Adam Levine. Her friendly nature made it easy for her to connect with others, and she formed lasting friendships wherever she went. Her presence made a meaningful impact on many, and her absence will be deeply felt. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Dr. Albert Zelig “AZ” Soforenko. Sara is survived by her daughter, Erika; son, Tyler and daughter-in-law, Kaylyn; mother, Evelyn; four siblings, Dave (Pam), Cheri (Mitch), Debbie, and Randy (Kay); and many other relatives and friends. In accordance with her wishes, an intimate gathering, with immediate family members, will be held at a later date.
