David Lyons

David was a U.S. Marine veteran who served part of his enlistment in Naples, Italy as a “favored” cook. Recipes were not necessary for David, and his men feasted on gumbo and other “home cooking”. After his service he held a variety of jobs including working as a test driver for Nissan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Gray Lyons; father, Vernon Lyons; sister, Jeanne Lyons Rath and step-father, Walter Shell.

David is survived by his mother, Sherry Lyons Shell; brother, Larry Lyons and his wife, Debbie of Lumberton, TX; sisters, Kathy Martin of Dallas and Joyce Achtschin of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 from 4-6 pm at Claybar Funeral Home, Beaumont with a celebration of his life to follow Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1: 00 pm also at Claybar. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Port Arthur, TX.
