

LILLOW, Arnold– It is with much sadness that the family of this amazing man, announces his passing, on Monday, July 18, 2016, at St Joseph's Health Centre, Guelph. In his 97th year, Arnold lived a long life filled with love, laughter, family and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn McMinn Lillow, after over 63 years of marriage. He was the cherished father of the late Barbara Lillow (Scott Andrews), and Mary Strimas (the late Gord Bannister); special "Gramps" to Mary's children, Andrew (Katie MacPherson), and Rachel (Bevin Lyon); proud great-grandfather of Nate and West. Arnold was predeceased by his brothers and their wives, Bill and Eva Lillow, late of London and John and Gladys Lillow, late of Stratford. Arnold will be fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Norma McMinn and Glenna Smith. He will be missed by three nieces and a nephew. Arnold lived a meaningful and fulfilling life. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces, Airforce Division, in World War II. He later taught Air Cadets in Wingham, Listowel and Guelph. Although he was a hardworking businessman, he made time for his many interests and hobbies. Family and friends came first. He will be dearly remembered by everyone who knew him. He loved flying his Cessna airplane, camping, fishing, playing cards, listening to "Big Band" music, participating in church and community activities, travelling, enjoying several winters in Florida with Evelyn. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. M. Bluhm, staff and volunteers at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Guelph. Together, this team provided Arnold with their expertise, care and compassion. They created a home for Arnold for almost six years. In keeping with Arnold's wishes, there will be no funeral home visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. A private family Memorial and Celebration of a Life well lived, will take place at Wingham Cemetery, at a future date. If so desired, expressions of sympathy in Arnold's memory can be made to St. Joseph's Health Centre, Guelph, to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital, or to a charity of one's choice, would be appreciated by the family.
