Peacefully at Hospice Wellington on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
Carmelina (Finamore) Tantardini was born in Guelph on October 22, 1927 to the late Francesco Finamore and Ida D’Sciullo. Beloved wife of the late Gerald J. Tantardini (1992). Dear mother of Carolyn Hughes (Robert) of Brantford and Francine Witty (late Dennis 2016) of Guelph. Survived by her grandchildren Kyle and Tyler (Aleisha) Witty of Guelph; Nicholas and Brittany (Wayne) Hughes of Branford; and Maria Shaw of Guelph. Proud great grandmother to Jude and Joshua and Noah Witty. Carmel lived to 95 years of age and was predeceased by her brothers, Tony (Antoinette), Nicholas (Mary), Mario (Rita), Frank (Joan) and sister Mary (Alex). She was also predeceased by her brothers-in-law John (Mary) and Donald (Grace) and sisters-in-law Margaret Connors (Owen) and Dolly Tantardini. She leaves behind many dearly loved nieces and nephews, great and great-great.
This past July we had a Finamore family reunion where Carmel was deemed the oldest member of the family, but best of all, she got to see everyone and say goodbye in her own special way.
Carmel received excellent care over the years that allowed her to remain in her own home until May of 2023. Thank you to:
-The paramedics who monitored, came to her home, and sat by her side in the halls of the Guelph General Hospital.
-Dr. Gawron’s staff and nurse Chantelle who provided home visits
-the lovely PSW who came every Wednesday for personal care
-The Von’s who did home visits (Meals on Wheels Volunteers)
-The staff at the Guelph General Hospital Emergency room, 4th floor, 5th floor, and social worker Kate who worked tirelessly and are all greatly appreciated.
-The staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Apple Blossom 4th floor and to Carmel’s God child and niece Karen
-All the wonderful and caring staff and residents at Eden House and her wonderful roommate who made her days better
-Her two grand daughters in law, nurse Maria and nurse Aleisha who were by her side whenever she needed them.
-Family and good friends for all their love and visits
-Finally, to Hospice Wellington who treated our family like royalty while providing compassion and excellent care that mom needed to cross over with dignity and peace. A blessed experience filled with love. You truly are angels on Earth.
