McDERMOTT, Francis James ("Frank" "Jim") - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Guelph General Hospital on Friday, June 26, 2009. Cherished Husband, Dad, Poppa and Great-Poppa. Beloved husband of Helen (Dawson) McDermott and the late Doreen (Duffield) McDermott (1979). Loved Dad of Dave McDermott, Diane and her husband Chuck Chambers, Dan McDermott and Sandi Dunn, and Debbie McDermott, all of Guelph. Dear step-dad of John and Nancy Dawson of Puslinch, Shawn Patchett of Everton, and Dan and Lisa Dawson of Guelph. Loving Poppa of Tyler and Hilary McDermott, Cory, Cally and Cassidy Chambers, Tessa and Dylan McDermott, Crystal and Miranda Dunn, Tom, Chad and Michelle Dawson, Jeffrey and Lacee Patchett, Chance, Gage and Katie Bevan, and Quest and Kelsey Dawson. Proud Great-Poppa of Emilee, Crisstoffer, Peter, Lucey and Nolan. Dear brother-in-law of Pat McDermott, Donna McDermott, Lenora and Alan Firth, and Fred and Heather Ball. Survived also by many nieces and nephews. Dear brother of the late John, Ronald and Anita Hannigan. Predeceased by brother-in-law, Lionel Hannigan; son-in-law, Jeff Patchett; great-grandson, Nikkolas Wheeler; and his beloved "Bruiser". Frank (Jim) enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, dancing and telling stories with his family and friends. He was a long-standing member of the Legion, Knights of Columbus, Evergreen Centre; a loyal blood donor; and retired from Imperial Tobacco. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who loved him and his four-legged friend "Spike". Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel , 252 Dublin Street North, Guelph (Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.), where funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday afternoon, June 29, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Interment Marymount Cemetery.
