Gino Busato

Busato, Gino of Guelph passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the age of 83. Devoted and loving husband of Laura (Tonin) and father of Sylvia (Paul) Vyrostko, Anna (Peter) Glaab, Sue Busato (Tim Dickey). Beloved and proud Papa of Ryan (Lexy), Kyle, Kate, Grace, and Amelia. Gino was predeceased by his parents Emilio and Rita, parents-in-law Ernesto and Eminia Tonin, brothers Odorico and Luciano, and sister-in-law Teresa Busato. Survived by siblings Rino (Maria) Busato, Luigina (Frank) Pozzobon, Valeria (Fausto) Brombal, Fausto (Elena) Tonin, Leonilde (Mose) Favaro, Clara (Late Angelo) Bortollon, Guido (Adelina) Tonin, Liliana (Virginio) Gazzola and many nieces and nephews.

Gino came to Guelph from Casacorba in Italy to forge a new life in 1962 and later married his soulmate, Laura, in 1966 with whom he made a beautiful life. He embraced a new country, culture and language with courage always ready to accept change in the hope of creating a better life for his daughters who were the entirety of his life. He championed higher education and independence for his daughters. A tool and die maker by trade, he learned to solve any problem that he encountered. He could build or fix anything. He loved and respected his sons-in-law like they were his own and enjoyed their love in return. When his grandchildren came along, life took on new meaning. He was always immensely proud of all five grandkids going to each game, event or graduation. In his later years, he and Laura enjoyed travel adventures going to Australia, Africa, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Portugal and many other countries. We were blessed to have felt unconditional love throughout our lives.

Immigrant Services

A Visitation will take place on Friday, February 10 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Gilbert MacIntyre Funeral Home - Dublin Chapel (252 Dublin Street N., Guelph). A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 10:30 am at St. John's Catholic Church (45 Victoria Rd. N., Guelph). Interment at Marymount Cemetery to follow.
