James Emery Kanasy

KANASY, Dr. James Emery-- It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. James Emery Kanasy, on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the age of 87. Emery is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Elisabeth (Betty) and his children Rob (Jennifer) and Doris (Lou), as well as his granddaughter, Emily. He is also survived by his brother Leslie. Emery was born in Hungary, lived in Austria and England but found a real home in Canada in 1952. He attended the University of Windsor, the University of Michigan and the University of Pittsburgh, where he acquired his PhD in 1971. Emery spent many years working in education and research, retiring from the civil service as a Director at Energy, Mines and Resources in Ottawa. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Parish, 238 Main St. N., Rockwood, on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Interment of ashes at Woodlawn Cemetery, Guelph at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice.
