MacKENZIE, Janet Ellen - Janet Ellen MacKenzie (née Isbister) died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, November 10th in Orillia at the age of 67 after a long fought battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy. Jan will be missed by her husband, Jim, children, Kristi (Andrew), Kari (Tim), Rob (Neesha), Meggi (Brandon), grandchildren, Kati, Kyra, Erik, Sara and Nikki, mother, Hazel, and sisters Betty and Susan. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert. Jan was born on July 26th, 1947 in Hamilton, Ontario to Hazel and Robert Isbister. She graduated from The University of Western Ontario in 1968 with a degree in English Literature and The University of Toronto in 1972 with a Bachelor of Education. She married Jim, her lifelong soul mate, in 1977. She impacted many students over her teaching career at C.W.D.H.S in Fergus and G.C.V.I in Guelph. Jan was known for her love of canoeing, running, horseback riding, writing, and playing guitar and piano. Her friends and family will remember Jan’s warm sense of humour and her selfless nature which was demonstrated by her consistent desire to put others before herself. A Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, November 15th, from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home (Hart Chapel), 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, N1G 4X9.
