Jocelyn was born in Vancouver to Harold and Muriel King. Her brothers and sisters are David, Mary, Margaret, Michael and Cathy. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Harold Edward Anderson. She is survived by her daughter Kim Anderson (David Dornan), and her son Doug Anderson (Jennifer Wemigwans), and by her grandchildren Rajan Anderson Dornan, Denia Anderson Dornan, and Nigel Harold Wemigwans, and by Kevin Robillard. Jocelyn has a very large extended family and will be remembered by many friends and family in Ontario, British Columbia and other provinces and states.
Jocelyn, known to friends and family as “Jolly”, was a teacher and accomplished professional seamstress, tailor and theatrical costumer. She travelled after attending UBC to Quebec and Ghana, where she taught sewing. After starting a family with Harold, she settled in Ottawa, Ontario, where she worked as a secondary and middle school teacher and as a cutter making costume designs come to life for many years with the National Arts Centre. Upon retiring to Guelph, Ontario, she became an award-winning quilter and a trainer of service dogs, and spent time with family and travelling the world as far as China, Turkey and Central America. She will be remembered for her strength, her wry humour and her great love of dogs.
In keeping with her wishes for a simple farewell, a family meal and celebration of Jocelyn’s life will be held in her honour around the time of what would have been her 87th birthday, July 19. If you like we ask that you think of Jocelyn on that day with a good meal and good thoughts, and wish her a good journey.
As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to National Service Dogs (https://nsd.on.ca/) would be appreciated by the family.
Rest in Peace Jolly.
