Matthews, Gerald Joseph (Joe)-- February 7, 1931 -February 14, 2015 Joe is survived by his life partner of 25 years, Helen Dolby of Guelph, and predeceased by his wife Jean Matthews. He is survived by his children, Rob, Chris, and Joanne, and by his step-children, Shauna, Darrell, Steve, Rob, and Lisa. He was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Joe served for 30 years as an officer and detective for Waterloo Regional. He was also a member of the RAOB. Private cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Joe's life will be held in the chapel at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 7 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
