
Joyce Winifred Taylor, who was a resident of the Ellington, Guelph, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at the Guelph General Hospital, with her daughters by her side. Born February 8, 1922 in Thornton Heath, England, Joyce Winifred Taylor (née Downing) was the daughter of the late Alfred George Downing and Winifred Margaret Gray. She served God and County in the Royal Women's Air Force in WWII. It was during this time that she met her husband Harold Sylvester Taylor, who was a member of the Toronto Scottish Regiment, Royal Canadian Army. Joyce was a seamstress by profession, a talented artist at heart and a loving wife and mother by nature.
She is survived by her daughters Claire Jackson (Paul) of Everton, ON, Sonia Theobalds (Doug) of Camden, Maine and Helen Michel (Todd) of Corunna, ON. Joyce is fondly remembered by her grandchildren Emma Theobalds and Kelsey, Zach and Nicole Michel. She is survived by her sisters Irene Cadd of Hamilton, ON and Jean Robertson of Leicestershire, England and step-sons John Taylor of Hastings, ON and Raymond Taylor of Mississauga, ON and their children and grandchildren. Joyce is predeceased by her parents, her step-father George McKellar, her husband Harold, her brother Kenneth and her daughter-in-law Jackie.
Friends may call at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 117 Guelph Street, Rockwood, Ontario on Saturday, June 23, 2001 from 1:30-3:00p.m. to visit with the family. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation in the funeral home at 3:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
