Luigi Giuseppe Gatto

It is with great sadness that the Gatto family announces the passing of Luigi Gatto on August 6, 2021 in his 88th year.

Beloved husband of Bruna (nee Signori) for 59 years. Loving father of Paola, Virg (Angela), Dan (Kerry), Luke (Nicole) and Dave (Jennifer)

Cherished nonno of eight grandchildren Anthony, Michael, Katherine, Jonathon, Joshua, Bella, Ellysia, Jacob and step grandchildren Zack, Ryan and Lucas.

Luigi is survived by sister Antonietta (Corrado) and sister in-laws Luciana and Vittoria. Predeceased by brother Udisio, Severino, Guido and Angelo, sister Zita and Daria. Luigi will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Luigi was born in Caselle d’Altivole, Italy and came to Canada in the mid fifties. He was a labourer at the University of Guelph. A few years later he opened a grocery store with his brother Angelo. In 1977, Luigi opened the doors to Fashion Lighting which he operated with his family. He was a kind and loving father and will be missed. Rest in peace daddy. We love you.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate Parish, 28 Norfolk St., Guelph on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with entombment at Marymount Cemetery. To attend the Funeral Mass and due to Covid restrictions, guests must register on the funeral home website and also due to the restrictions, his family regrettably inform everyone they cannot have a public reception to celebrate Luigi's life.

If so desired, memorial donations in Luigi's memory made to the Parkinson Society would be appreciated by his family.
