Predeceased by her husband the late Avelino in 1972. Loving mother to Marilyn Down (Ted) and Patricia Botter. She will be missed by the many friends who’s lives she touched.
Marianne was born in Oldenburg, Germany, November 11, 1929. Before immigrating to Canada, she spent two years in England where she worked as a nanny and honed her English-speaking skills. In April 1955 she left the port of Bremerhaven, Germany and sailed for Canada. She met Avelino on a blind date at the Mustang Drive-In and they married and settled into their home where she remained until passing.
Marianne found great joy in nature and walking through the forest. She was a long-time member of the Guelph and Bruce Trail clubs. Summers were spent camping in Killbear Park where she enjoyed sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, hiking, reading, fires and sun tanning. Winters were spent skiing and snowshoeing. When at home she enjoyed gardening, birding, sudoku, old movies and classic country. For the past 12 years she has been a member of the Guelph Bridge Club where she developed some of the greatest friendships.
Special thanks to the great nurses at Bayshore Healthcare and to Dr Ruddack for his kindness and comfort.
Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph.
