Martin passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Centre, Guelph on Thursday, April 16, 2026. Martin is predeceased by his Nonna Rosina (1990), his parents, Giovachino (2012), Roma (2017), his brother Lino (2013), godson Matthew (2001) and his brother-in-law, Christopher McCrae (2023). Martin was a brother to: Mary Lou, Gian Carlo (Marie), Rafaele (Grace), Robert (Silvana), Francis (Maria), Paul (Vicki), Rosanna, Michael (April), Teresa Gobbi-Farley (Ian) and Cathy McCrae. He was also an uncle to: Anthony (Denise), Stephen (Nikki), Andrea (Steph), Alicia (Sean), Christopher (Brittany), Adrianna, Nicole, David, Alex, Carissa, Kyle, Kurtis, Rebecca, Lauren, Erika and Rachel. Martin was also a great uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Martin was a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan, an avid Blue Jays fan and he enjoyed playing pick-up hockey and softball with his friends. There wasn't a salty snack Martin didn't like - potato chips, pretzels, popcorn - all washed down with a Steam Whistle beer and reading the Saturday Toronto Star while listening to the Blue Jays game playing in the background on the radio. He also loved his cookies, soft drinks, Smarties and Peanut M&M's. Martin also had a lifelong passion for collecting die-cast antique cars and trucks, each one chosen with care. Martin lived simply and quietly with his faith anchoring his spiritual life of daily prayer, sacraments and Sunday mass. We would like to express our immense gratitude to our sister, Cathy, for her guidance and knowledge on how to care for loved ones with brain cancer. A special thank you, also to the dedicated healthcare team at St. Joseph's Health Care Centre, especially: Dr. Brodovosky, Tammy, Thimo, Destiny, Nikky and Lily - for caring for our brother, Martin, throughout his journey. Also, a special thank you to Father Boyd and Fr. Duffy for their spiritual guidance. As per Martin's request there will be a visitation before the funeral mass at St. Joseph's Parish. This will be from 10:15 to 10:50 am. A funeral mass will be said by Fr. Lourdu, at St. Joseph's Parish, Guelph, at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 30, 2026. A private family committal will take place at a later time. Arrangements are entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son, Dublin Chapel, Guelph, Ontario. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made in Martin's memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or the Canadian Catholic Mission Society.
