Orval Arthur Stanger

STANGER ORVAL ARTHUR - December 27, 1929 – March 20, 2013 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Orval was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, and the loving husband for 31 years to Shirley (Allore). Father of Jeffrey of Toronto; Richard (Shirley) of Burlington; Catherine of Edmonton and Cindy Johnston of Guelph. Cherished grandfather of Megan Johnston of Guelph and Heather and Michael Stanger of Burlington. He is survived by his brother Ron (Isabel) of Carmen, Manitoba and predeceased by brother Clayton and his wife Jean of Swan River Manitoba. He is also survived by 11 sisters in law and 6 brothers in law. He will also be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews in Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba, BC and Michigan. Orval was employed by the FW Woolworth Co. for 47 years. He enjoyed golfing, reading, gardening and driving in the country until his car accident in 2002. His family would like to thank the wonderful care he received for 11 months at Riverside Glen and the Guelph General Hospital. Family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Sunday, March 24 from 7-9 p.m. A Service will be held in the Hart Chapel on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. If so desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by his family.
