Patrick O'Donnell

With great sadness, we announce the death of Patrick, who died peacefully at home in Rockwood, Ontario, on Thursday October 1st, after a long illness bravely borne, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Pat, aged 71 years, dearly beloved husband of Anna (nee Meldrum), much loved father of Denise, Lynne and Kyle, father-in-law of Rob, Dennis and Andrea, and precious granddad to Alec, Ryan, Callum and Allie. Firstborn son of the late Pat and Bridget and dearly loved brother of Brian, Mike, Kitty, Maureen and Mairi, and a much treasured brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. Sorely missed by all. Patrick was a graduate in Chemical Engineering at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He worked his entire career in the salt mining industry as Production Manager for Sifto Salt Company (Mississauga, ON) 1967-1990 and Manager of Operations for United Salt Corporation (Houston TX) 1993-2012. Special thank you to Patrick’s palliative care team, Janette, Ann and Dr. Peter Anderson, for your compassion and for the wonderful care that you provided. Patrick’s family invites friends to the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Rockwood Chapel, 117 Guelph St., Rockwood for visitation on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Patrick will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 238 Main Street N., Rockwood on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.
