

GOETZ, Raymond Joseph – It is with heavy hearts and great sadness, the family of Raymond Goetz announces his peaceful death on October 10, 2012, at Hospice Wellington, Guelph where he had been looked after in the most caring and compassionate way. Raymond’s family is also very appreciative of the care given to him by St. Joseph’s health centre, Guelph since November 2011 and their team of Doctors, Nurses, PSWs, Housekeeping staff and all administration staff. Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lorraine (Raftis) Goetz. Mourning him are his children: David and Connie (Armour) Goetz, Kevin and Reona E. (Rogers) Goetz, Susan (Goetz) and her husband Bradley Williams and daughter-in-law Wendy (Biffis) Goetz. His grandchildren: Lorina (Goetz) Mahoney (Dan), Raymond B. Goetz (Julia), Lisa (Goetz) Jackson (Michael), Reona M (Goetz ) Richardson (Robert), Tara (Goetz) Carey, Melissa Williams and partner Ryan Beattie, Matthew Williams and partner Carly St. Pierre, the late Myles Williams (Dec 21, 1989 - Sept. 27, 2009) His great-grandchildren: Miranda Strutt (and her father David Strutt), Liam Carey and Aiden Carey (and their father Chris Carey), Lucas Gerber Williams ( and his mother Megan Gerber) and son of Matthew Williams). Raymond is also survived by his sister Hilda (Goetz) O’Hanlon (late Edward 1990) and sister-in-law Iva (Cormack) Goetz (Leonard 1984), Gladys (Kraemer)(Eckert) Raftis (John 2007), Patricia (Hamilton) Raftis (Donald 2011) and brother-in-law Fred Raftis and wife Mary Lynn Noonan. Raymond was predeceased by his parents Matthew and Margaret (Costello) Goetz and his father and mother-in law Patrick and Susan (Milton) Raftis, his brothers Gerald (1919), Langford (1927), Cyril (1973 and his wife Eileen McMahon 2007), Leonard (1984), his sisters, Violet (1914), Viola (1914), Mary (Goetz) Boyle 1988, Michael Boyle 1998), by his brothers-in-law Donald Raftis (2011) and John Raftis (2007 and first wife Barbara McKenzie 1971) and daughter – in – law Jacqueline Barcley Goetz (1996). Raymond was born in Arthur Township, Wellington County on October 9, 1924, grew up on a farm, started trucking as a young adult and in time worked for Barber Building Blocks and Gary’s Shell Service Station, Victoria Road, Guelph. Always wiling to lend a helping hand, he was a gentle quiet man devoted to his family and friends so think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched for nothing loved is ever lost and Raymond was loved so much. Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph where family will receive friends on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Kenilworth at 2 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice Wellington (www.hospicewellington.org) or to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home, 519-821-5077 or send condolences to www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com).
