

Rita, loving Mother of Ivana, Flavio, Elio Favretto, all of Guelph, passed away Thursday May 19th 2022 at the age of 84, surrounded by her family. Rita was a woman who loved her family and lived every day with that love in her heart. Rita was born in Caselle di Altivole, Italy on August 7th 1937 to parents Genoveffa (Tosello) and Giovanni Zilio, predeceased. The family moved to Guelph from Italy in 1956 where Rita met her husband, best friend and love of her life, Benito Favretto (predeceased September 28th 1988). Together they built a home and raised their 3 children with joy and love. Raising her children and keeping care of their home was a priority with Rita and her children will miss her strong hugs. Rita will be sadly missed by her Sisters, Maria, Mrs. Ettore Binotto, Apollonia, Mrs. Giacondo Zardo, and Elda, (Mrs. Alessandro Marcon predeceased); Brothers, Silvano, Massimina Zilio and Albert, (Barbara predeceased). Predeceased by brothers Ermenguildo, Lugina Zilio, Alfeo Zilio, and Onorato Zilio. Rita will be fondly remembered by Brother in law Mr. Dino and (Natalina predeceased) Favretto and Niece Nina and Gino Fabbian. She is predeceased by Sister and Brother In law Mrs. Rita and Geurino Rebellati, Mrs. Gina and Carlo Banni and Ferrucio Favretto of Guelph. In Italy Luigi and Guisi Favretto, Mrs. Lina and Mario Conte and Emma Favretto all predeceased. Rita is loved and will be missed by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin Street North, Guelph, Ontario on Wednesday, May 25th from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma St. in Guelph, Ontario on Thursday, May 26th at 10:30am followed by interment in Marymount Cemetery. A social gathering will follow at the Hart Chapels Fellowship Lounge to share stories, memories and Celebrate Rita's life, a full life well lived. The family asks that you please consider wearing a mask when appropriate for the protection of all. Donations to Diabetes Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Rita would be greatly appreciated by the family.
