
Purvis, Douglas -- Peacefully at his home in Rockwood on Monday, June 16, 2008. Douglas Purvis in his 60th year, was the beloved son of Robert and Dorothy (Melvin) Purvis of Rockwood. He was the loving brother of David Purvis and his wife Wendy of Loretto, and of Debra Lawson and her husband Victor of Pennsylvania. Douglas was the dear uncle of Lindsay Bowers. He was the nephew of John Melvin and his wife Betty Jane, Douglas Melvin and his wife Eileen, Bernice Black, and Ruth Beamish and her husband Sam. Survived also by his many cousins. Douglas was a member of the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra for over 30 years, and a charter member of the Hannaford Street Silver Band for 25 years. Private cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Doug's life at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Assoc. or to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
