Sashini Diyathma Punchihewa Punchihewa

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Sashini Punchihewa at McMaster Children's Hospital on July 25, 2020. She is the beloved daughter of Samith Punchihewa and Renuka Waduge and the loving elder sister of Vinudi.

Sashini excelled in academic studies and extra-curricular activities. She was also an accomplished piano player and a focused competitive swimmer. Although she was only 14 years old, Sashini positively influenced and touched the hearts of everyone she met during her brief life. She will be remembered for her loving and caring personality. Her compassion and generosity continued with the donation of her organs to save seven other lives.

A private funeral will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph from 1:00 - 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 30, 2020.

The family will be welcoming friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral home has limited viewing times, restricted to only 40 people for each half hour slot. The half hour slots are from 11:00-11:30 AM and 11:30-12:00 PM. Pre-registration is required for visitation therefore, please RSVP below.

Funeral proceedings will be streamed through the Internet via ZOOM for friends and relatives of the family to join during the religious ceremony and to pay respect to Sashini. Follow the link posted below.
