My sincere condolences to all of Shawn's family and friends.  Shawn was a wonderful co-worker and a fantastic paramedic.  He was calm, kind and patient.  I worked with Shawn both in Halton and in Guelph and every shift I had with him was full of laughs.  It was always a good day when I got to work with Shawn.  He talked of his children often and was so proud of all three of you.  He will be missed by so many.  

Friend and co-worker from the past, I have great memories from the time I spent with Shawn, I remember a father who was proud of his children and spoke fondly of them. I remember a paramedic who was great at his job and I remember a man who understood life. I look west at this moment to where you were and hope you have found peace.

In memory of Shawn Rissling, a longtime Halton Paramedic who recently passed away at age 53.  Shawn was a father, husband, co-worker and friend to many.  He will be sorely missed, may he Rest In Peace.

Our hearts were saddened by the loss of Shawn, he was an amazing paramedic and coworker. We always enjoyed his friendship and humor.

Jodi, Tanner, Paisley & Sage I was very sorry to hear of the passing of your husband/father. He was a good man who was very proud of his family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this very challenging time. Take a day at a time.

I had the pleasure of working with Shawn at Parkview. Every shift was enjoyable. He helped me to go on to have a rewarding career at Toronto Paramedic Services.

Shawn was always a pleasure to work with and when he was your relief at work. He was always happy and reminded you that this career is what you put into it. Even after all the years he had under his belt, he was still passionate about the job and always educating himself. Thanks for the good times Shawn! You will be missed my friend. RIP

Thank you Shawn - your shift has ended, rest in peace friend.  

I loved working with Shawn - in our RCA days, as well as when we'd meet up on this "no man's land" when he was on shift in Acton.
He will always be remembered as one of my mentors.  His calm and gentle way of teaching and guiding us newbies was truly valued.  I will miss seeing that smile - not only from calls, but also just out and about around Guelph.  My condolences to all of you during this difficult journey.  He will be missed.

RIP Shawn and my condolences to all his family. Shawn as I started as a Paramedic in the 1980's. We were "Ambulance Driver/Attendants".  Attendants meaning a "Service to the Public". As "Ambulance Service" evolved so did Shawn. Taking in every training opportunity  and initiative that would better serve his community he became an Advanced Care Paramedic. I was in his class and loved being around Shawn not only for his wit but his observations. I know "Sky Monkey" and I are sad on this news and so would Kevin too.

In memory of a father, a son ,a brother and a husband. Our sincerest condolences.

I only worked with Shawn a handful of times.  However, he was very kind, patient and supportive as a partner, particularly for a newer paramedic.  He was fun and funny to work with, and I knew he had my back.  He was very knowledgeable and caring with patients and their families.  He will be missed.  

Shawn was an excellent paramedic dedicated to patient advocacy and should be remembered for his 30 plus years of community service. RIP Shawn, your shift is over, be at peace. Peter McMurrough.

My deepest condolences. I worked with Shawn for many years both in Halton-Mississauga and in Halton Region. He was a consistent presence on the job and brought a calm to any call he attended. We shared many stories over the years. He will be missed.
