BURTON, Stephen Wallace— It is with enormous sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Stephen Wallace Burton, at home, on Sunday, February 16, 2014. Steve was born on April 14, 1987, in Sydney, Nova Scotia, but lived in Guelph, Ontario since 1999. He was the beloved brother of Alison and Reginald Reid, the loving uncle of Mallory Reid (Jay) and Tyler Reid and the great-uncle of Addelaine Reid, whom he adored, the loving nephew of Debbie (Rob) Desveaux and the son of Wallace (Buzz) Burton, and a wonderful person to many more relatives in Cape Breton, NS. Steve was predeceased by his mother Sharon Ann (nee Brown) Burton, by his maternal grandparents Ignatius and Kathleen Brown and by his paternal grandparents Wallace Burton and Eileen Burchell.

Steve was the treasured friend of so many special people who shared their love, friendship and life with him. He was a big guy with a big heart and a bigger personality. He was a philanthropist to the core and shared all he had and all he was with everyone he encountered. Although he faced many challenges in his life, he overcame all and came out a better person for all that he had to live through. Steve will live on through all of us who were lucky enough to know him and have him in our lives.

How can the Devil take a brother if he’s close to me?

I’d love to go back to when we played as kids but things

changed, and that’s the way it is.

Things will never be the same.

Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.
