Antonio was born on December 27, 1948, in the Municipality of Castillejos in the province of Zambales, Philippines, to Apolonio and Perfecta (nee Sangalang) Callo. In 1969, Antonio joined the United States Navy, where he proudly served for over 23 years until his retirement in 1992.
During his time in the Navy, Antonio was introduced to Soledad de Leon by Soledad’s sister. They first became pen pals, during which time their love blossomed, and they married in 1973. Together, the two enjoyed fishing and traveling, cooking and sharing food, and created a beautiful life and family.
Antonio enjoyed bowling and played in a few leagues while in the Navy. He also played billiards and liked to impress his friends and family with various trick shots. He was always smiling, a strict but supportive father who was incredibly encouraging and comforting to his children and family. He emphasized education and the importance of savings, simplicity, and frugality. He loved his grandchildren and spoiled them greatly.
His memory and sweet nature will live on through those who were fortunate to love him.
Antonio is survived by his wife Soledad; children Randy Callo, Maria Callo, and Ana Marie (Paulo) Bautista; grandchildren Kenneth Joshua Ramirez, and Kara Abigail Ramirez; siblings Alfredo Callo, Fernando Callo, Teresita Callo, and Alex Callo; and many nieces, nephews, and other beloved relatives.
He is preceded by his parents Apolonio and Perfecta Callo, and siblings Josie Callo, Reynaldo Callo, and Remedios Miraflor.
