Bessie Papanos

Bessie Papanos nee Zografos – Kozonis, 88 of Waukegan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on September 7, 2015. She was born June 16, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan. She was a life long member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, devoted Greek School Teacher for many years, member of the Daughters of Penelope and the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society and a volunteer at the North Chicago Veteran’s Hospital for many years and Meals on Wheels. Beloved mother of Dr. Nicholas (Ilioula) Papanos and John Papanos, loving grandmother of Gabriel Papanos and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends. Preceded in death by her husband Dr. Steve Papanos, two brothers Anthony (Dina) Zografos and Nick (Lorraine) Zografos. Visitation Friday 9-11 AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Service 11 AM Friday September 11, 2015 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 1400 N. O’Plaine Rd. Libertyville, Il. Burial Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, Il.
