Daniel Darby Kehoe

Daniel Darby Kehoe, age 66, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023 after a long illness, surrounded by his wife and daughters. Dan was a remarkably kind, warm, easy-to-love man who instantly made friends with everyone around him.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Mary (née Dunne); his daughters Kathryn (Maloney) Foster and Erin; his siblings Jane Lewis, John, Robert (Michelle), and Bernard; brothers-in-law John (Nancy) and James (Heather); nephews Tim, Robert (Ashley), Brian, Michael (Kacey), Sean Lewis, Nicholas, Darby (Devon), Ryan (Chelsea), Colin (Sasha), Sean Dunne, Kieran, Logan, and Nathan; and many grand-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kathryn (née Darby), his sister, Mary Griffin, his brother-in-law, Jim Griffin, and his nephews, Andrew Kehoe and Kevin Griffin.

A favorite son of Batavia, Illinois and a graduate of Aurora Central Catholic High School and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Dan’s life work was helping build his business, Kiefer USA, into a success. Passionate and hard-working, he was an expert salesman and a tenacious advocate for his business, his partner, Brion Rittenberry, and his Kiefer family. He held meaningful and lasting relationships in every college town in the Midwest.

We will miss his great sense of humor, his warmth, and the way he always put people first. His commitment to his family and friends was exceptional. He always prioritized relationships and never forgot a name.

Mass will be held at 12pm on Friday, October 6th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wadsworth, IL. The family will host a visitation in the church beginning at 11 am; there will not be a wake.

Following the Mass, the Kehoes will host an open house–style Celebration of Life at Dan’s favorite place, Glen Flora Country Club in Waukegan, IL, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. A lunch buffet will be provided. There’s nothing Dan loved more than a party…and, of course, a day on the golf course.
