Douglas grew up in Waukegan, Illinois, where he graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1968. Following his education, he embarked on a long and successful career as a truck driver, dedicating 43 years to Pepsi Cola and UPS/Teamster.
In 1971, Douglas married his high school sweetheart, Sigrid "Sigie" Krohn (Vasey). Together, they built a life filled with love and family. He is survived by his son Eric (Julie) Krohn, daughter Danielle (TJ) Schrank, as well as his grandchildren, Bryson Krohn, Xander Schrank, and Zoe Schrank. He also leaves behind his sister Suzanne (Jim), brother Craig (Denise), sister Beverly, and brother Keith. Douglas was preceded in death by his father Kenneth, mother Vivian, and brother Gary.
Douglas loved being out on the golf course, always chasing the perfect shot and enjoying the time spent there with his friends. He also had a true love for a good gamble, especially the thrill of the slot machines and the excitement of March Madness. Whether it was a round of golf or filling out a bracket, he embraced the fun, the anticipation, and the joy of the game.
He was first and foremost a loving husband, an incredible dad, and the most cherished papa. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength that will live on through his family. Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the years we were given and the memories we will carry with us always. He will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and never forgotten.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 12pm until the time of service at 1pm on Saturday February 21, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church 620 W. Grove ave. Waukegan, Il 60085. Pastor Wayne Jahn will be officiating. Burial will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, Il .
