Francisca Morales

Ella nació el 10 de octubre de 1917 en Puerto Rico. La primera niña nacida de 12 hijos a Eugenio Díaz y Anastasia Félix. Para aquellos que tuvimos el privilegio de conocerla en el guión que fue su vida, desde 1917-2016; todos tendríamos que acordar que era una dama honorable. Ella vivió una vida rica y plena y llegó a disfrutar y apoyar a su familia a través de su 5ta generación.

Francisca fue una verdadera pionera y un pilar de la familia Díaz quien llego a los EE.UU. en Febrero de 1955, sin ningún conocimiento de la lengua o de la cultura. Pronto comenzó a trabajar y no se detuvo hasta su retiro a los 63 años. A lo largo de su vida ella tuvo "una casa dulce” donde innumerables miembros de la familia y parientes tuvieron alojo, hasta que lograron establecerse en los Estados Unidos.

Panchita amaba a su familia y el cocinar y entretener. Su amor por la familia se demostró como ella todos los años preparaba una comida elaborada para Acción de Gracias o Navidad, y a veces hasta por 3 días; con el fin de alimentar a la familia y amigos que cada vez se hacia mayor.

Ella siempre te ofrecía uno de sus deliciosos 'cafesitos' o el cocinar una comida para todos sus visitantes; incluso hasta apenas en los últimos meses antes de convalecer. Además de su amor incondicional hacia su familia y amigos, ella amaba el deporte y era una ávida fanática de los Cubs y disfrutaba muchísimo escuchando los juegos en la radio y viéndolos en la televisión.

A Doña Francisca le sobreviven su esposo y compañero por 69 años; Don Valentín Morales y dos hijas queridas, Norma Morales y Lydia Edwards (Morales). Sus nietos de parte de Norma en Waukegan, Alma Huertas, Miguel Huertas, Gelacio Huertas y Serge Sicard III; y de Lydia: Chantal Starr, Ilana Shipe y Ericka Anderson, de Pennsylvania lloran la pérdida de su querida abuela junto con sus bisnietos y tataranietos. También sus hermanos y hermanas, junto con un montón de sobrinos, familiares, amigos y vecinos; locales y en el extranjero, acompañan a la familia en su gran pérdida.

Francisca era muy querida y admirada por muchos en la comunidad y un acto de clase para seguir. Los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla, han aprendido de ella a vivir una vida ejemplar. Nos mostró con acciones como amar incondicionalmente y sinceramente, el hacer lo correcto y sostener y apoyar a su familia y amigos sin importar el resultado.

Titi Panchita, nos invita a reflexionar y vivir buscando al final de nuestras vidas el oír de Nuestro Señor Dios Todopoderoso la promesa en Mateo 25:23 “¡Hiciste bien, siervo bueno y fiel; has sido fiel en lo poco; Te pondré a cargo de muchas cosas. Entra en el gozo de tu Señor. “

Francisca Morales, lovingly known as Titi Panchita; at age 98 peacefully passed on in her sleep this past Sunday, May 22nd at her residence in Waukegan.

She was born October 10, 1917 in Puerto Rico. The first born of 12 children from Eugenio Diaz and Anastasia Felix. For those who have the privilege of meeting her in the dash that was her life from 1917-2016; all would have to agree she was a remarkable lady. She lived a rich full life and got to enjoy and support her family through her 5th generation.

A true pathfinder and a pilar of the Diaz family. She came to the US in February 1955, with no knowledge of the language or the culture. Soon she started to work and did not stop until her retirement at age 63. Throughout her life she had ‘an ever revolving sweet house’ where countless family members and relatives would seek and stay on, until they where able to establish themselves in the states.

Panchita loved her family and to cook and to entertain. Her love for family was demonstrated as she every year would cook an elaborate meal to serve on Thanksgiving or Christmas sometimes up to 3 days in order to feed the ever increasing family.

She would always offer one of her delicious ‘cafesitos’ or to cook a meal for all her visitors; even until the recent months when she became bed ridden. Besides her unconditional love for her family and friends, she loved sports an was an avid Cub’s fan and enjoyed listening to the games on the radio and watched them on TV.

Francisca is survived by her husband of 69 years; Don Valentin Morales and two beloved daughters Norma Morales and Lydia Edwards (Morales). Her grandchildren from Norma in Waukegan, Alma Huertas, Miguel Huertas, Gelacio Huertas and Serge Sicard III; and from Lydia: Chantal Starr, Ilana Shipe and Erika Anderson from Pennsylvania morn the loss of their beloved grandmother along with her great-grandkids and great-great grandkids. Also her brothers and sisters along with a slew of nieces and nephews, in laws, relatives, friends and neighbors; local and abroad accompany the family in their loss.

Francisca was loved and admired by many in the community and a class act to follow. Those who had the privilege of knowing her have learned how to live an exemplary life. She showed us with actions how to love unconditionally and sincerely, to do the right thing and to support her family and friends no matter the outcome.

Titi Panchita, invites you to reflect and to live your life seeking at the end of your days, to hear from Our Lord God Almighty the promise in Matthew 25:23 “Well done good and faithful servant; you have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy with Your Master.”
