Gladys A Rivera

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7th, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 8th, at 11:00am at Our Lady of Humility, 10655 W Wadsworth Rd, Beach Park, IL, followed by interment at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.

Gladys was born on June 22, 1943, to Antonio and Amalia (Torres) Rivera in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

A voracious reader, Gladys owned every book Stephen King ever wrote. She enjoyed more off-beat authors such as King and Dean Koontz but would read almost anything. She loved music and dancing, especially Salsa. As a young girl she could often be found dancing at her father's feet.

Gladys was the beloved mother of Lillian Belmar, William (Maria) Martinez Jr., Joseph (Alina) Martinez, Nitza (Edgardo) Navarro, and Nancy Schilbe; loving grandmother of Melanie, Crystal, Joseph, Viviane, Lina, Brittany, William III, Anthony, Stephanie, and Kegan; proud great-grandmother of Roman, Elianna, Adriana, Dominique, William, Katalyna, Vivian, Lys, Naya, and Alia; adored sister of Haydee Torres; dear aunt of Edgar, Iris, Carmelo, the late Sandra, and the late Migdalia.

Her memory will forever live on with those who knew and loved her.
