She was born in Toronto in 1964 to Mary Louise and Robert Collinson, and made Leigh a big sister. According to her mother she then spent her childhood keeping everyone on their toes. Jackie met the love of her life, Ken who adored her so much he stayed in spite of Jackie's cat DJ's attempts to chase him off. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married September 19, 1987.
Jackie dedicated the majority of her life raising her children, Alex, Clayton, and Liam. As an animal lover she also cared for many beloved pets from lizards to horses though none were quite as special to her as her dog Tucker who she brought home wrapped in her coat when he was, as she put it, ‘The size of a beanie baby’.
Jackie will always be remembered for tenacity, her strong-willed nature, and her ability to bounce back from every obstacle she faced. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her and in the animals she helped, which includes every descendent of her favorite chipmunk, Mr. Chips.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents Mary Louise and Robert, she is survived by her spouse Kenneth, her family Liam, Clayton, and Alex Platt (Scott), Leigh, Gary, Rachel, and Tessa Bennett, Janice, John, and Joel McGarrity, Sheila, and Bob Leggitt.
Friends and family will gather for a memorial visitation for Jacqueline that will be held Friday, January 26th, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 North Cemetery Road, Gurnee, Illinois 60031.
