
James J. Taylor Sr. passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at his home in Gurnee, with his loved ones by his side. He was born on Feb. 14, 1930, in McKenzie, Ala. Jim proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a merchandising manager for the Teletype Corp./AT&T, where he met his wife, Lois of 51 years. He is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter, Kimberly; son, James Jr.; son-In-law, William Putman; and precious grandchildren, Heather "Peaches" and William "Little Man," whom he loved with all his heart. He is also survived by his brother, Leo Taylor; half sister, Velvia Francis Walker; sister-in-law, Rachel Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson F. and Donnie C. Taylor; sister, Cara Doris Hooks; and brothers, Jesse Benjamin and William Harris Taylor. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with a service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Joy Lutheran Church, 749 N. Hunt Club Road, Gurnee. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park.
