Jose B. Perez

Jose B. Perez, age 62, of Gurnee, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Jose was born September 23, 1959 in Allende Coahuila Mexico to Benito and Flora Perez. Jose is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Lori Perez; beloved son Lucas Perez; father Benito Perez; sister Maria (Ruben) Rodriguez; nieces and nephews; Juanita (Tony) Escamilla; Rodolfo (Rachel) Escamilla Jr. Rosanna Rodriguez and Rolando Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his mother Flora Perez.

Anyone who knew Jose, Benito or Ben Perez, whichever name you chose to call him, knew the kind of man he was. He struggled most of his life with Rheumatoid Arthritis, but never let it take control.

He started as a young Laborer and then moved on to become a Carpenter and Foreman over the next 30-plus years. Usually rising before the birds and alarm. His love for riding his Harley was endless, whether a ride with me, friends, a charity ride, or solo, he cherished it. He also loved muscle cars, hot rods, etc. He had a yellow Corvette that barely saw the pavement unless it was a warm, sunny day.

He loved all sports, his favorite being football, and yes he still is a Bears fan. He boxed when he was younger and after some of the stories I've been told, I'm glad I didn't know him then lol.

Who didn't know how much he loved to dance? Many a weekend night we would go dancing, whether Disco, Pop or Latin, and when I would get tired, he would find someone who wasn't.

He loved being outdoors, maintaining the yard and gardening. He never hired out for house projects, from painting to building our 2 tier patio, he always said, I got it, and he always did.

He loved playing jokes on people, whether family, friends, neighbors or complete strangers at the store lol.His most precious of times though were with family during movie night, cooking out, or sitting around the fire. Jose was loved by many and he returned that love. He shared a great love for every dog we have ever had, treated them all like they were his children and they returned that love. God bless you Jose, you will be painfully missed!

A visitation for Jose will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM with a memorial service at 3:30 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031.
