Mary Caroline Berry

Mary, known to her loved ones as Caroline, dedicated over 30 years of her life to teaching preschool and elementary school students at Waukegan Public Schools. Her passion for education touched the lives of many young minds throughout her career.

She is survived by her husband, William Berry Jr. ; daughter, Catherine Berry Ragusa (Christopher); son, Michael Berry (Leann); grandson, Luca Ragusa; brother, Edward Hutten; and sister, Rosemary Hutten Reeves. Caroline was preceded in death by her father, F. Joseph Hutten, and mother, Angela E. Hutten.

Caroline's educational journey included earning a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, and a Master's degree from St. Xavier University in Chicago.

Caroline enjoyed many pastimes. She loved gardening and planting flowers, reading, being outdoors, and she was an avid animal lover.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Friday, March 1st, from 4pm to 8pm and Saturday, March 2nd, from 11am to 1pm, with a service to follow at 1pm on Saturday at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee, IL.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Wisconsin Humane Society in Caroline's memory. May she rest in peace.
