

He was born on February 13, 1922 to Angelo and Catherine Tomassini in Milwaukee, WI. He grew up and attended Bay View High School in Milwaukee, WI.
He joined the United States Navy in 1942 and served as an Aviation Electronics Technician during WWII. In 1947, he returned home to marry Nellie Ferri. During the remaining years of service he was the radio/radar man on USN Lockheed Super Constellations in flight squadrons VF1 and VW1. These planes were considered the “eyes of the Atlantic Fleet”. When not on flight status he was an Instructor of Aviation Electronics. His duty stations included many Naval Air Stations in the USA; and also Japan, New Foundland, Malta, North Africa, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Iceland and Greenland. He retired as a Master Chief in 1962, after 20 years of military service. After his Honorable Discharge he worked for 3 years as an electronic organ designer for Magnavox in Champaign, IL. He then worked for 20 years as a Civilian Contractor and Military Base Inspector at the Electronics Supply Depot at Fort Sheridan, IL.
Peter is survived by his children, Jim (Carmen) Tomassini, Pete (Anne) Tomassini, Mike (Debbie) Tomassini, Mary (Andy) Frey, John Tomassini, Joe (Debby) Tomassini and Tony (Marti) Tomassini. He was preceded by his son, Tom Tomassini and his wife of 61 years, Nellie (Ferri) Tomassini.
Visitation will be held at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 Cemetery Rd Gurnee, IL from 5 to 8 pm, Friday, May 13th.
Funeral service will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 135 Milwaukee Ave, Lake Villa, IL, on Saturday May 14, at 10 am.
