
Copenharve Sr., Randall Lee Age 63 of Waukegan, IL passed away at the VA of North Chicago Thursday, January 6th. Randy was born on January 11, 1947 in Waukegan. He is survived by his loving family Darin (Nancy), Scott (Charlene), Jeff (Sheena), Rob (Jenny), Kevin (Jill), Michelle (John), Randy Jr (Catrina), his 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson Scott Copenharve Jr, his father Alan Copenharve and his wife Bonnie Jean Copenharve. Randy was a highly driven individual. He was driven not only by his love for his family, but also his passion for firefighting & serving his community. Randy served in the army from May 24, 1966 until May 23, 1968. He donned many hats during his lifetime. During the course of his young life, he was a firefighter for 35+ years, (at Waukegan & Bonnie Brook, respectfully,) playing an active role as Fire Lieutenant, Assistant Fire Chief & having headed the Fire Prevention Bureau. Adding to his list of accomplishments, he was a member of Lake County Bomb Squad, Public Relations Officer, Assistant Building Commissioner, a member of the Waukegan Historical Society, member of the Moose Lodge as well as having been a member of the Exchange Club. Volunteerism ranked dear to him as he often times could be found working with the Waukegan Park District, Shriners, Port Authority & countless other organizations. Randy was also head of several golf & bowling leagues in which he was an active participant. In his downtime, he most enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he cherished, woodworking, boating & fishing. Visitation with the family will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 9th at the Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee, Il. Service will immediately follow.
