Rene A. Navas

Happily married to Carmen Morales Navas since October 13, 1962. He immigrated to New York at age 22 to pursue the American dream. He later settled in Chicago in January 1963, where he started his career as an Engineering Draftsman and later promoted to Mechanical Engineer for Lakewood Engineering & Mfg Company, a manufacturer of fans, ventilation, humidifiers equipment. He spent over 40+ years as a skilled, talented and creative Mechanical Engineer who designed lighting, products and diagnostic laboratory and imaging equipment. He was a devout Catholic who began every Sunday with the word of God, followed by walking the malls hand in hand with his lifelong partner and loving wife, Carmen. Rene and Carmen were fortunate enough to visit and travel to many countries and cities around the world and loved experiencing diverse cultures and rich architecture. Rene was a thrill seeker who was invigorated by jumping out of a plane or driving fast cars. Rene was an avid sports fanatic, coffee aficionado, car lover, and could be found blasting all kinds of music on Saturday mornings. He had a collection of watches, sailboats, nutcrackers, as well as an array of paintings, and music albums. He was known for having a unique knack for remodeling, decorating and furnishing his homes.

Beloved husband of Carmen R. Navas, proud father to four daughters: Monica Girard (Andy), Diana Ruiz, Lucy Navas-Watson (Paul), and Carmen Rodriguez, adored grandfather to twins, Renee Girard and Valerie Medina, Jordan Watson, Jessica Elston, Alexandra and Andres Rodriguez; cherished uncle to nieces Ruth Stentz, Rocio Rabie, Gabriela Navas and preceded by his brother, Jaime Navas, Sr. and his son, Jaime Rodrigo Navas, he was a loyal and devoted friend to many. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him.

A visitation for Rene will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 9:30 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd.; Gurnee, IL 60031. Burial at Ascension Cemetery.
