I will have a Shirley Temple today in memory of my sweet friend, Rita, who was so very very special.  She touched many lives and we all miss her so dearly... 

I'm thinking of each of you that are missing Rita and sending love and comforting hugs.

Rita was a bright ray of light every time I would see her in our Red Wing office many years ago.  She was funny, sincere and so helpful to so many people.  Rita is missed, loved and honored.  Condolences to all that knew her.

Rita was so special, so warm and genuine, being in her presence was always a happy occasion. No matter how long it had been since we’d seen her, she would always find time to catch up and inquire about us and our family. I met Rita when she joined the ranks of admins at Aon Hewitt. She was always smiling and bubbly no matter what was going on. After she left the company, there were 4  or 5 of us that would meet her every 3-4 months for lunch at Portillo's. We would laugh and have fun. We were with her through her breast cancer. We were very proud of her and so excited when she had  completed her treatments and reconstruction. She was so proud of her tattoos. She made us all laugh with that story. I moved away from Illinois 2 years ago but kept updated on everyone. I was very saddened to hear today of Rita's passing. Her love of life, her humor, her strength will always be with me and her many friends. My condolences to her family who she loved so dearly.  God Bless You Rita! Rest in peace. Rita cared for me in some of my lowest moments over the past year. When I wasn't looking, she noticed that something was off and checked in on me.  Her support, guidance, and lending an ear for just a moment was a beautiful part of who she was. 

Albeit,  a little late to the humor department to catch on to the jokes. It was only because you were making those special moments you planned for everyone perfect! Rita you shined in lighting the way for the "Culture" in which our department should all strive to live by. Being there for one another. Truly listening to one another. Celebrating each other.

Lastly, always dress up and match that jewelry to that never the same outfit!

I will miss you, Sweet Rita! Till we met again when our feet don't touch the ground and our feathers are our embrace.

Rest In Peace my Dear Friend – Rita always brought so much Love, Joy & Light to those around her. She will be truly missed and always in my heart! My condolences to her family Rich, Amy and Matt.

RIch and Rita...what can I say about the most favorite couple we had ever met.  Circa 1988, we built our first houses on Cardinal Lane in Palatine. We met in the driveway. Young and carefree. Both of us just got married. We hit it off at the first hello. We spent 4 happy years next to each other before we moved to Florida. Her son was born on my birthday. Neither of us had kids when we met. We spent our first new years eve together as home owners and life long friends from that year. We always joked, they drank milk at our house celebrating the new year playing Monopoly.  Rita became my  life long friend. Even though a thousand miles kept us apart, we spoke every week for 32 years. She had a funny way of joking and never realized how funny she was! A piece of my heart is gone. I miss her incredibly right now. I'm grateful that our last words to each other the night I told her to go into the ER was "I love you". She said , "I love you more"


      

Rita taught me how much it means to show up for someone else.  I always knew showing up and being present for others is sometimes all they need. I knew what it felt like to have people you'd expect to be there for you.  What I didn't know, was how it felt to have someone show up and be there for you when you didn't expect it. After my sister was diagnosed with GBM, I had so many people reach out and Rita was one of the first. Rita taught me first hand how great it feels to have a good support system.  When she showed up to my sister's fundraiser, I couldn't help but be filled with joy. You could always feel her support and her unconditional love of life when talking to her.  She was such a role model when it came to support and strength.  My prayers and thoughts go out to her family.  She is blessed to have her family here to carry on her memories and personality traits. My thoughts and positivity go out to her family. Be courageous, be vulnerable, be brave, be contagious and be joyful as she forever lives on in your memories and stories. 

I will miss Rita a lot.
Without Rita, Bingo Night will not be the same.
She made all of us feel special and was kind to everyone.

To know Rita was to love her.  She was most definitely the heart of our group at AbbVie.  I will miss her more than I can express.  My condolences to the family.

Rita was one of the funniest and most caring people I ever knew. She celebrated with you for great things in your life and mourned with you for things you grieved about. She regularly had her 15 min of fame because of the witty things she'd say, but was unaware of it because life wasn't about her. She always gave credit and highlight to those around her. 

I will always know that I am a blessed person because she crossed my path in life. Rita will be greatly missed. I loved her. 

Rita Day, 2017!  Friends and Family gathered for three annual Rita Days.  We did the things Rita loved.  Talked, ate, drank, boated, tubed, laughed.  Celebrated life.  No one deserved a dedicated day more than Rita!

Rita meant so much to so many of us here at AbbVie. We were blessed to have her in our life and so lucky that she considered us as her other family. 

For our team - Rita was the spirit who always kept us together. She was the heartbeat that encouraged us to invest in each other. She was the smile that kept us going. She truly was a leader, friend, and partner that we all admired and loved. She undisputedly was the culture champion & ambassador for our team. She celebrated each one of us and that made her happy !

For me, personally - She was a kind & trusted friend who cared deeply. She was the caring advisor that I don't think I can ever replace. She was role-model to me when it came to celebrating life and embracing challenges that come with it. She was the one who lifted my spirit if & when it needed. 

Rita reminded us all every day that we are sent here with a purpose that goes beyond the day to day work. We will continue to remember and action that every day. 

It’s always hard to forget someone who has given you so much to remember. Rita will be missed so very much. This heartache will not go away.

My condolences on the loss of your wife, mother and daughter. Rita and I worked together for several years at Carriage House in Bloomingdale. She was such a sweet, kind person. Your family with be in my thoughts and prayers.

There aren't enough words to express how much our dear Rita will be missed. I am grateful for her friendship and cherish the memories I have with her. She truly was the light of our organization and will miss seeing her every morning coming into work. Sending my condolences to Rich, Amy, and Matt. Rita will always be in our hearts. 

Normally writing words and feelings come easily to me.  However, this time, there is nothing. Rita was a kind person and a positive force within her workplace at AbbVie.   Her AbbVie colleagues will dearly miss her and send prayers and support to her family.   She bravely fought breast cancer and wanted to live her best life for her family.   I know she will forever watch over them with the same care she attacked everything.
