Born on December 10, 1928, in Drumright, Oklahoma, Robert was the beloved son of Arthur and Mary Foreman and the younger brother of Maxine and Vera Elliott, both of whom preceded him in death. Survived by his niece Penny Conner Watson and nieces Sarah Watson Steffes and Genie Watson Funk, and Nephew David Gene Watson.
Bob spent his childhood in Tucumcari, New Mexico, where he met the love of his life, Lanell Bugg, in the third grade. Their childhood friendship grew into a lifelong devotion, and they were married on April 19, 1948, beginning a partnership filled with love, adventure, and deep commitment.
After their marriage, Bob built their first home in Amarillo, Texas. Their journey then led them to Libertyville in 1960, where he built a second home for his growing family, and where they lived until 1967. That year, Bob and Lanell settled in Park City, Illinois, the place he would proudly call home for the rest of his life. There, they raised their daughter, Latricia Roberta Foreman (Julian) Rodriguez, and created many cherished memories.
Bob was a skilled and dedicated carpenter, a trade he proudly practiced for over 30 years until his retirement in 1973. His craftsmanship, strong work ethic, and pride in building things with his hands were trademarks of his life.
Bob and Lanell shared a passion for exploring the outdoors. They were avid campers and active members of the National Camper and Hikers Association, the Avion Camping Club, and Canvas Toppers Camping Club of Lake County, through which they traveled to all 50 states and enjoyed countless adventures together. They also found great joy in square dancing and were longtime members of the Saints and Swingers Square Dance Group in Libertyville, where they formed lasting friendships and spent many happy evenings on the dance floor.
Family was the heart of Bob’s life. He is survived by his daughter, Latricia (Julian) Rodriguez, and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Jeanie Rodriguez, Robert (Kaitlin) Rodriguez, and Lanora Rodriguez.
Bob’s legacy continues through his great-grandchildren:
Nicollette, Cynthia, Sonya, and Michael Quinto, Alec, Avyanna, and Robert Julian Rodriguez II, Carlos Sanchez, Shane Foreman, and Amber Miklovic.
He was also blessed to see his family extend to the next generation with great-great-grandchildren: Johnathan, Nova, Jason, Olivia, and Jordan.
Bob will be remembered for his spunky spirit, the way he loved to joke, and for knowing how to make others laugh. Those who knew him will hold dear the memories of his sense of humor and many stories.
In lieu of Flowers, Memorial contributions in Bob’s memory to the Diabetes Foundation Inc., 45 Whitney Road, Suite 2M, Mahwah, NJ 07430, are appreciated.
