Heroes don't wear tights or caps they were dog tags and combat boots. Remembering you on veterans day!

May God bless the Komer family as Russ was such a blessing to us!!  Whether it was 5:30 am or 10:00 pm , 20" of snow and ice or 99 degrees outside, Russ always looked after us .  What a wonderful legacy he has passed down to his children and grandchildren!  

You will be missed!

I will miss Russ greeting me every morning at The Arcade on Deerpath, holding the door open and saying, "Another day in paradise!"  He was ALWAYS there and took great care of the building.  He was a good man.  May he rest in peace.

As a tenant at the Deerpath Arcade in Lake Forest, I have enjoyed being greeted by Russ every morning. I will miss that. He was always willing to help in any way he could. He will be greatly missed.

I was saddened to hear of Russ's passing, I met Russ when I was working at the Deerpath Arcade, for a tenant there.    He was always the 1st person in the building and was always there to greet you with a "Good Morning", and we would usually chat for a bit.  Russ was an old school gentlemen and a really nice man, he always had smile on his face and loved to laugh.   My condolences to his family and friends.

It saddened me deeply to hear of Russ's passing. I have known him for ten years at the Deerpath Arcade, I took care of the plants in the open area and always looked forward to talking with Russ. He was always full of energy and we could trade friendly insults back and forth like only true friends could, but he always had a smile for you when you walked in. Russ took great pride in his work, which reminded me of my own dad and how he raised me so I know his family is better off for having him as a father and a teacher of life. I'm so sorry for the loss of a great person to know. I have already said a prayer and shed some tears, the Arcade will never seem the same without Russ there.

Dad...thanks for helping me become the person I am today. I'm definitely going to miss our Sunday night phone calls and dinners with my family. I knew things got really rough for you after mom died and I am so happy you are back together with her again. You two did good with us kids. Thanks for teaching me everything you did. No one could have done it better! I love you!

I worked at the Arcade between 2001 and 2010 and always enjoyed speaking with Russ.  He would always give me that strong handshake and we would act like we were about to square off boxing like Muhammed Ali and Joe Frazier.  I would see him sporadically over the last five years whenever I visited the Arcade business offices.  Ive rarely met  a person that worked so hard, was so diligent and so responsible.  He did his job impeccably well.  I will be visiting the Arcade tomorrow to get a haircut and it will not seem the same.  We'll all miss you Russ.
