We are heartbroken to announce that Velma “Jinnie” Gordon passed away peacefully on February 24th, at the age of 87. We are so grateful for her time on earth with us, that she lived a long and beautiful life, filled with love, family, and friends.
She was a wonderful wife to Dale, who passed away in January of 2023. They were married for 63 years and they never let a day go by without saying “I love you”. They were that old couple that still held hands. She missed him so much and it brings us comfort to know they are together again.
She was the best mom to Diana (Jonathan) Stern and Donna Gordon-Clem. Her love language was food and she took joy in having friends and family join us for holidays and stuffing them full of food. She was never too busy for a hug and she made sure we always knew how much we were loved.
Jinnie was a doting and loving grandmother to Veronica J Garcia, Jennifer Golden (Luna), Jessica Clem, and Brandon Clem (Kayla Shenning).
Children were her joy, especially her great-grandchildren; Mateo, Janelle, Zachary, Cameron, Cyan, Lily, Remy, Romeo, Scarlett and Seth always made her eyes light up and her smile shine. She was grateful she lived to see her first great-great-grandchild, Khalilah, who was born just days before her death.
Jinnie loved the lord and was a prayer warrior to many. She believed in miracles and had absolute faith when she prayed.
She literally couldn’t tell a joke because she would start laughing before she got to the punch line, which started us laughing. She laughed harder each time she tried to get it out. By the end we were all laughing so hard that we couldn’t breathe. And we never got to hear the end of the joke.
In her last few years, she loved working on puzzles and tried to get everyone who walked through the door to join her. She also loved watching the Game Show Channel. Not because she was interested in the games, it just made her happy to see how happy the contestants were when they won.
Our hope for today, and for all the days going forward, is that while we miss immensely, we also celebrate the wonderful life she lived and incredible amount of love she shared with each of us. She left us with amazing memories and lessons that will serve us a lifetime. Love changes shape and form, but it never dies. Her love will live in our hearts and we will miss her forever and love her for always.
