Dr Allan Gilbert

DR. Allan H. GILBERT, 86, of Hackensack, NJ and Naples, FL. Beloved husband and father passed away June 12, 2016 after a long fight with Parkinson’s disease. Born on 10/20/1929, he was lovingly raised by Leah & Adolf Goldberg in Liverpool, England. He earned his PhD in Chemistry, after meeting and marrying the love of his life, Sylvia Gates (who died 3 years ago). They moved to America in 1950, where he worked for Lever Brothers as a bench scientist, and they started a family. Allan and Sylvia lived in Oradell, NJ, where they were active in the PTA, Temple Shalom, and the Lions. Allan retired from Lever Brothers as a Vice President. They then moved to Hackensack, NJ, and split their time between New Jersey and Naples, FL. Allan & Sylvia enjoyed playing and watching golf, reading mysteries & watching British comedies. They also loved traveling, animals, & having dinners and gatherings with their many friends and family. Allan is survived by his daughter, Hazel Hanford, his son-in-law Mark Hanford, and his son, Martin Gilbert; and his brother, Ronald Goldberg.

Funeral Service was held on Wednesday June 15th at our chapel, 402 Park Street Hackensack, NJ 07601,

Interment followed at Beth El Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Allan's name to your local pet shelter, as he loved animals, or to Parkinson’s disease research.

SHIVA will be held 2PM-9PM at the home of Hazel & Mark Hanford, 310 Lookout Ave, Apt#205, Hackensack, NJ 07601 on Saturday June 18th,
