Bernard E. Troy

Bernard Troy 77, of Haworth, New Jersey and Boca Raton Florida, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on February 12, 2024 after a 7 month battle with cancer. He was born in New York City. Bernie grew up in New Rochelle, NY. He attended Ohio University and received his law degree from The University of Pittsburgh. He practiced Real Estate and Commercial Law in New York City and was a partner at Schwartzman, Garelik and Troy.

Bernie lived in New York City where he met Jayne his adoring wife of 51 years and later moved to Haworth, New Jersey where Adam their pride and joy was born.

He was a very devoted and loving family man to Adam ( Lisa ), his wife of 15 years and especially to their 2 grandsons Tyler and Jesse, who live nearby them in Old Tappan, New Jersey. He was cherished by his late parents, Myrna and Sidney Troy and his sister, Emily Shepard( Bobby).

Bernie was very well respected in his field and extremely dedicated to his many clients. He was also Chairman of the Haworth Planning Board for over 30 years and a valued member of the community where he dedicated his time in many activities in town as well.

Socially he was ensconced not only locally but as an esteemed member of both Paramount CC in New City and Boca West in Florida. He was adored and will be remembered, especially for his engaging personality, quick wit and his unforgettable sense of humor. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at Gutterman and Musicant, 402 Park Street, in Hackensack, NJ on February 15th, 2024 at 12 Noon and followed by his burial at Beth El/Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, New Jersey.
