Bruce was my roommate first year at American University. Somehow we lost touch, but I recently found this picture of Bruce and his son Jason.

It has been over a year since we lost Bruce and his absence has been felt in all of our various circles.  At every function and activity that we hold, it is rare that we do not think of our friend.  How often have we all said to ourselves, "I wonder what Bruce would have said about this or that.... "...or "Do you remember when Bruce .....".  Bruce helped many of us over the years.  Not a bad legacy to leave behind!

Just heard about Bruce's passing from my friend KK. Bruce was always a gentleman.... I had the privilege of meeting Bruce about 15 years ago playing volleyball.... Bruce was a lot of fun to play with and also I enjoyed going out afterwards with Bruce and some friends and enjoy each other's company. ... Bruce was one of my favorite teammates to have on my volleyball team... he was smart strategic and a true teammate and a pleasure to play with.... I certainly will miss Bruce and very sorry to hear about his passing....

I will always value my friendship with Bruce.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of your father/brother. I knew Bruce for several years, and enjoyed playing Scrabble with him. He was always willing to help the other players.

The Maywood Volleyball group of which Bruce was an active member for over 15 years is sadden to learn of his death.  We just found out Nov 30.  Bruce was friends with everyone and regularly played with us twice a week.  We will miss his friendship and competitive spirit in addition to his great scorekeeping skills.

I was shocked and sadden to hear of Bruce's passing.   I think he was very good at what he did leading or moderating various Jewish social groups.  He had a good combination of insight, intelligence, wit and caring and personality which never made anyone feel uncomfortable.  Both his presences and his contributions will be missed by all the different groups he was involved in.

Very shocking and sad news.  Bruce was a very intelligent and and leadership-oriented presence at social events over the years, and his wit, insights, and judgments on the scene will be sorely missed.

Some of us will be holding an informal memorial for Bruce on Friday November 4th at the CJC - 18 Delaware Street, Clifton, NJ. after Shabbat services.  7:30pm-9:30pm.  We hope to honor Bruce's memory as he would have liked- reminiscing about the many ways he made our lives brighter over the years with his humor and his willingness to volunteer his time to help others!

So sad to hear about your  passing.. Bruce you were my close friend when I lived in new jersey. You even helped drive my car from New Jersey to Florida for me.You were a kind and gentle soul .You are probably facilitating a discussion group in heaven right now. I will miss you Bruce. We dated 20 years ago and he really was a good soul.  When my folks were in Florida he helped me clean up a small flood in their condo.  He took me on a few rafting trips and was very protective.

Hi Dad, I'm glad you made so many friends and worked to help others in the singles/jewish community. I had to move heaven and earth to make sure your final resting place was next to your parents and making sure your brother made it to the funeral just in time. With this I say goodbye and peace be with you.

The members of the North Jersey Jewish Singles Meetup group are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of our good friend and facilitator Bruce Lichtenberg.  He will be dearly missed!

Such an unexpected and unbelievable loss. I'll be thinking of Bruce at the FLSC Wii games and also when I attend summer outdoor concerts. RIP Bruce. Sincere condolences to all his friends and family.

My heart aches because all I have left is wonderful memories of my best male friend, Bruce, doing shows and programs in northern New Jersey with me and never missing a dinner at my house.  Bruce was so special to my husband, Dominick and me.  Just recently when Dom had a very serious operation, Bruce stopped by twice to see if he could do anything for us..  We had four shows scheduled to do together in the near future and I don't know how I will get through them without Bruce.  Everyone loved Bruce and to say he will be missed is a huge understatement.  God took him much too soon but Bruce, you will live in my heart and mind forever..   Rest in peace, dearest friend.

I am so sorry that I had to be the one to notify the police that friends and I felt something was wrong. We knew Bruce to be very punctual and reliable. Our worse fears became reality.
Bruce had many friends he was well liked.
I first met him at the Fair Lawn Senior Center when he joined an improve group Called Falling Down Funny. He had a great sense of humor and quick wit. We performed for Seniors in Centers and Senior living facilities.
When I started a memoir class Bruce joined. He was a good writer and his stories were interesting and informative. What stood out was the fact that he was an avid rower and rafter. I learned that he also was smart and enjoyed both science and sci-fi, Rock n Roll, Trivia and Scrabble. Bruce was also a motivational speaker and volunteer. He will be very missed by me and so many others who lives he touched.
