

Eva Jakob, 77, of Park Ridge, New Jersey, a loving wife, mother, bubby, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025 at the Villa Marie Claire Hospice in Saddle River, New Jersey. She was the beloved wife of Howard Jakob for almost 30 years.
Eva was born on January 22, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of Israel and Elsie (Helfer) Baron (z''l). Her family later moved to Fair Lawn, New Jersey, where she graduated from Fair Lawn High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Eva was a passionate book lover, needlepointer, and master mah jongg player. She loved people. Her smile lit up a room and she had a true gift for connection. But, more than anything, Eva loved her 6 grandchildren.
Eva and Howard brought PJ Library to the JCC of Northern New Jersey and have been primary benefactors for over 15 years. They have also been charitable supporters of The Valley Hospital and Hackensack University Medical Center, where they participated in the establishment of a foundation for breast cancer awareness and support. Eva and Howard are primary supporters of the JCC of Northern New Jersey. Eva was also a Lion of Judah through the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey.
In addition to her husband, Howard, Eva is survived by her children, Stephen Ehrenberg (and Barbara Shi), Emily (and Michael) Blumberg, Jody (and Dean) Schlanger, and Lisa (and Vincent) Fusco and her grandchildren, Gabriella Fusco, Elizabeth Blumberg, Lela Schlanger, Andrew Fusco, Isabella Blumberg and Landon Schlanger, who were the light of her life and affectionately called her “Bubby.” Eva is also survived by her cousin Roberta (and Stephen) Nash, her brother Joseph (and Connie) Baron, and other family members.
Funeral services will take place at Gutterman and Musicant Funeral Directors in Hackensack, New Jersey on July 15, 2025 at 12:30pm. You can pay your respects to the family starting at 11:30am. Interment is immediately following at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, New York. Shiva will take place at the Bears Nest Clubhouse, 60 Earlshire Run in Park Ridge, NJ on July 15 and July 16 from 5-9pm, with a service at 7:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eva’s memory can be made to The PJ Library/JCC of Northern New Jersey, the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, The Valley Hospital, or Holy Name Foundation (which supports Villa Maria Claire Hospice).
