Evelyne Mitchel

Evelyne Mitchel of blessed memory passed away February 8th 2026. She lived a truly wonderful and joy-filled 101 years and touched so many of us in so many ways during this time. Her departure leaves a space that can never be filled, but her love, friendship and joy of life will continue to guide all who knew her.

Born on 10/31/1924 in New York City she grew up in a strong and loving family that cherished Judaism, education and philanthropy. At her core was her family, friendships and Judaism. She was always adorned exquisitely, loved to celebrate family events and made lasting friends where ever she went.

She is survived by her sister Lenora, son Yale, daughters Sharon and Leslie, grandchildren Brandon, Elana, Matthew and Brittany and great grandchildren Isaac, Sophie, Mia, Asher and Lucie who will forever cherish her memory. She is preceded in death by her dear sister Beverly and her loving son Mitchel.

Donations in her name can be made to the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and in the love, she gave so freely.

A Funeral service will be held on February 10, 2026, at 9:30 am at Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601.

A Committal service will follow at Beth David Cemetery 300 Elmont Road Elmont, New York.
