Born on February 23, 1939, to Jacob and Minetta Drogin of Bayonne, NJ, Jerry attended Jersey Prep School and graduated from the University of Miami where he majored in marketing, was a member of the swim team and an active member of AEPi, and met his first wife, Linda Ratner. They married in September, 1962 and had 2 daughters, Marcy, and Julie. They lived in Riverdale, NY, and later in New Rochelle, NY. They divorced in 1973 but remained lifelong friends.
Jerry served as a medic with the 105th Military Airlift Group of the NY Air National Guard.
Jerry then married Suzen Stampler on November 24, 1974 and they were happily married for 45 years until Suzie suddenly passed away on September 15, 2019. They had two daughters, Jamie, and Marisa. They lived in NYC, and later moved up to Cold Spring, NY where they built their dream home and lived until 2022 when Jerry moved to the Jewish Home Community in Rivervale, NJ.
Jerry had a long and successful career in the real estate syndication business, first as a broker at Pearce, Mayer & Greer and later, when he started his own successful company, Drogin Management.
Jerry was truly loved by all who knew him, and he was one of the funniest people you would ever meet, full of warmth, life, laughter and love and always wanting to gather and be with his family and friends, many of whom he had for 60 years. He was “the life of the party”, and loved to travel all over the world with Suzie and spend time swimming, attending horse shows, seeing Broadway shows, and dancing and singing. As a bladder cancer survivor, Jerry loved his work for MSK Hospital as a patient-to-patient volunteer helping and advising other bladder cancer patients.
Jerry is pre-deceased by his wife of 45 years, Suzen Drogin, and survived by his four loving daughters — Marcy Drogin; Julie Drogin (Michelle); Jamie Drogin Lehman (Jeff); and Marisa Drogin Abraham (Steve), and six beautiful grandchildren who were the loves and lights of his life — Max (20), Micah (12), Henry (11), Maya (8), Thea (7) and Sydney (2).
In lieu of flowers or sending any gifts or food, memorial donations can be made to Jewish Home in River Vale in memory of Jerry Drogin.
