Harriet S. Gelles

March 18, 1931 - December 29,2021

Harriet Gelles, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, December 29, 2021, surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home in Franklin Lakes, NJ. Born in Buffalo, NY, to Robert Smith and Lillian Marks Smith. Harriet was raised in Kenmore, NY., and graduated from the University of Buffalo with a degree in Business. She pursued a career as a buyer for Macy’s Department Stores, in New York City. During that time, she met and married her husband of 42 years, Herbert Gelles, who predeceased her in October, 2000. She continued her career by working with several businesses while raising family. Harriet was most fulfilled by working in the administration business in a local nursing home in Bergen County, New Jersey, before retiring to Florida in 2000. In her retirement, Harriet volunteered for over twenty years at Jupiter Medical Center, where in she served two years as the President of the Auxiliary. Harried is survived by her son, Michael Gelles (daughter in-law, Lisa Gelles) and daughter, Janet Gelles Gandolfo, (son in-law, John Gandolfo) and four loving grandchildren, Alyssa Gandolfo, Bryan Gelles, Johnny Gandolfo, and Lauren Gelles. She had numerous grand pets to include: Coco, Collie and Rex. Harriet lived a very full and busy life and will be missed by her loving family and numerous friends and colleagues who she shared her life with in Florida.

Those attending the Graveside Funeral Service should meet 11am outside the cemetery's office to the right side where the Hearse will be parked.

Please do not meet at the grave.

The cemetery's foreman will escort us to the grave at 11:30 for the service.
